Registry-style ceremonies by civil celebrants, not a government registry office. No fuss, no frills, no wedding. Just paperwork.

Can I Get Married Online?

No.

You cannot legally get married online in Australia.

What must happen in person

For a legal marriage:

  • both parties must be there in person
  • the celebrant must be there in person
  • two adult witnesses must be there in person
  • the legal words and signatures must happen in person

What can be done online

Some preparation can still be done remotely.

You can often:

  • book the service online
  • prepare the NOIM online with NOIM Easy
  • send scans of documents for review
  • ask questions before the appointment

Good to know

If someone is offering a fully legal online marriage in Australia, be careful. That is not how Australian marriage law works.
