What must happen in person
For a legal marriage:
- both parties must be there in person
- the celebrant must be there in person
- two adult witnesses must be there in person
- the legal words and signatures must happen in person
What can be done online
Some preparation can still be done remotely.
You can often:
- book the service online

- send scans of documents for review
- ask questions before the appointment
